I ❤ NY: Murakami at the Gagosian Gallery

Even if you've never heard of Takashi Murakami, you might have already seen his artwork on the arms of women who carried the "Murakami" Louis Vuitton bags. Although I didn't personally purchase one of the Murakami bags, I enjoyed the whimsical touch Murakami brought to the bags through his artwork. So when I saw that the Gagosian Gallery was currently featuring Murakami's artwork at their space in Chelsea, I thought I'd check out his (non-purse) artwork!

Festive Dresses Under $70 to Wear During New Year's

With the new year coming up in a couple days, I thought I should do the obligatory New Year's post focusing on sequin dresses. Yes, it may not be too original, but honestly I personally love sequined dresses and I'll take any excuse to wear one! If you're going out with your girlfriends during New Year's, I think it's particularly fun to all wear sequined dresses together. I already have my sequinned dress ready for the New Year's party I'm planning to attend, so if you need to do any last minute shopping, click through to see some sequined options all under $70!

Trend Discourse: Faux Fur Winter Parkas

Image Source: Aritzia Bancroft Warmest Parka

For all of you who celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a cheerful and festive Christmas with your friends and/or family! The winter parka may be an older trend, but it's definitely still a strong winter trend! I think it's the new "puffy jacket" that was all the rage back in the early 2000's. Since we're now well into winter (with the colder January & February months just around the corner), I've been living in my TNA parka (see photo above).

Product Review: Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick #6 Maple Burgundy Pink

One of the few makeup items I got from Korea was Innisfree's Color Glow Lipstick. In my research for makeup products, these lipsticks came highly recommended so I knew I had to purchase one of them to try! I opted for shade number 6, Maple Burgundy Pink which is a deep pinky red fuschia. If you are familiar with Yoona of Girls Generation, this was the shade she wore in the advertisements while wearing a beige trench coat.

Beauty Discourse: Pin-Point Concealing

Some of you may know from my "How I Deal With Acne" post (read it here) that I suffer from acne-prone skin. Subsequently, the most important makeup product for me personally is concealer. While shopping in Kenig + Alcone one day, I came across the Sigma F68 pin-point concealing brush and remembered that Lisa Eldridge (my favorite you-tube beauty channel for tutorials) pin-point conceals. Ever since I purchased this pin-point concealer brush, concealing my blemishes has never been so precise!

Affordable Work Wardrobe Pieces

I haven't mentioned this yet, but I just recently started a new job! With all the excitement also comes with the thought - "I need a new work wardrobe!" I wish I could just buy an entire work wardrobe in one shopping trip, but the reality is that a work wardrobe is expensive (a nice suit will set you back at least $300), and it takes time to build.

Winter Beauty Necessities

Cold winter weather - some of you may love the chilly winter air, but your skin may not like it as much as you. I'm pretty sure most of us suffer from somewhat flaky, tight, and under-moisturized skin at some point in the winter time. I've already switched over to my winter skincare routine and some of you probably have already switched out some products as well since it's mid-December. So I thought I'd share with you all my winter skincare product necessities!

Product Review: IOPE Moisture Skin Soft Peeling Gel

From my all the products I bought in Korea, I'll first be reviewing the IOPE Moisture Skin Peeling Gel. I already talked about the benefits of peeling gels here, and since I had used up an entire deluxe sized peeling gel sample and loved it, I knew I had to get one while I was in Korea. After testing out several peeling gels, I decided on getting IOPE's since it wasn't too drying and it seemed like it got rid of more dead skin than others.

Faux Fur Accessories for Winter

Oh my, since I just recently came back to New York from California, there was a (literal) 30 degree drop in temperature for me when I got off the plane! Goodbye fall, hello winter. The one thing I love about winter however, is the opportunity to wear tons of accessories. I love adding a faux fur accessory to my winter outfits. Not only does it add texture to an outfit, it can also be a great statement piece.

Whether it's your boyfriend, brother, father, friend, or husband, the gifts I've chosen can be given to any one of the aforementioned parties! I also tried to stay away from the standard cuff link, dress shirt, shaving set, socks, etc. type of gifts. Finally, I let my boyfriend and some guy friends preview this post in order to obtain their approvals before posting. So, I'm glad to share this male approved gift guide for you all!

Product Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation & Airbuki Brush

Up for review is Tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbush Foundation. While I'm usually a liquid foundation kind of girl, I had the urge to try a powder foundation since my face is rather oily and thought that a powder foundation would last longer on my skin. I wanted something light on the skin while offering good medium coverage as well. I'm happy to say, Tarte's Airbush Foundation does exactly that!

Link Love: NARS Audacious Lipsticks, Brussel Sprouts, & a Fall/Winter Jacket Guide

1. FASHION: Fall has been here for a while now, but winter is just around the corner! If you're in the market for a new jacket, check out this guide that covers all types of coats from the trendy blanket poncho to the classic long overcoat.

2. BEAUTY: Everyone no matter who you are hoards some type of item. Women are more likely to hoard makeup & beauty items even if we haven't used them in a while, am I right? However, beauty items all have a shelf life, and it's best to bite the bullet and purge. Click through the link to find out when you should throw out what!

3. RECIPE: Although kale has been the "it" vegetable for quite some time now, I've never really been a fan. However, I do love some tasty roasted or baked brussels sprouts. Learn how to make Jean Georges's (the famous three Michelin star Jean-George restaurant in NYC is his) brussels sprouts salad!

4. HOME: I love modern interiors with lots of windows and light. If you're also a fellow admirer of similar interiors, you'll want to click through the link to Desire to Inspire to check out this modern beauty.

Trend Discourse: Varsity Bomber Jackets

Just this past year, I've been seeing this trend make its way on the shoulders of many fashionable individuals. It seems that the trend has gone international because while I was in Korea just last week, I saw this jacket everywhere! I'm sort of digging the resurgence of the sporty-chic style that the fashion scene has been going through for the past few years. For one, it's extremely easy and more importantly comfortable to wear!

Product Review: Kat von D Tattoo Liner

It's really hard for me to find a good liquid liner since I have hooded eyes. Basically, every eye liner has a tendency to smudge or disappear within one hour on my eyelids and it also doesn't help that I have oily lids. The Kat von D Tattoo liner is the best liner I've tried. Although it's not perfect for my hooded eyes, it's lasted on my eyelids the longest compared to other liners.

I ❤ NY: Affordable Omakase at Sushi Yasaka

If you don't already know through my Instagram or through the prior I ❤ NY posts, I really love sushi. I'm constantly on the hunt for quality sushi restaurants here in the city! After mentioning to a friend that I love Sushi Yasuda (reviewed here), she recommended that I try out Sushi Yasaka, a small quaint sushi restaurant on the Upper West Side. It's not a high-end dining experience like Sushi Yasuda, but the price point for the quality that you get is unbeatable!

Happy Halloween!! Although I'm currently breakout free right now,  I unfortunately still suffer from oily skin. My skin has reacted fairly well to mud masks in the past when it comes to oil control, so when I was picking up my second bottle of Nature Republic's The First Essence (reviewed here), I spotted this on the shelves and decided to give it a try.

Trend Discourse: Windowpane Print

Ever since I saw Olivia Palermo wear a matching windowpane/grid patterned set from Zara, I've come to love how chic the windowpane print can be. I think it's one of those patterns that even people who are afraid of prints and patterns might be drawn to. It's a great alternative to plaid if you're not a fan of plaid, and it makes a statement without being too obtrusive.

I'm sure that I'm not the only person that goes crazy on the gold decor, but I know that there is such a thing as too much gold when it comes to home decor. Outfit: Animal Print in the Garden

It was a crisp but sunny day in New York yesterday. Our local neighborhood botanical garden was having a fall harvest festival and there was music, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, pony rides, and even a petting zoo! Weather wise, it was also a perfect day for an outfit shoot. I finally broke in my leopard slip-ons (they had been giving me horrible blisters before) and wanted to incorporate them in a fall outfit.

Latest Lemmings - Oversized Scarves

Image Source: Asos Oversized Check Scarf

The key to keeping warm here in the fall and winter here in NYC (and probably every other place that gets chilly) is layering and finding items that will block that nasty windchill. A stylish way to keep warm is an oversized scarf and it can instantly take your outfit to another level. I'm lusting after a nice oversized one for the fall and I'll be experimenting with ways to drape it!

Product Review: Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

My skin is prone to getting dry and flaky during the fall and winter months. Unlike in the summer where I use a night-cream that doesn't make me go into oil production overdrive, I use a more rich and hydrating product in the colder months. Overnight masks have always interested me as they're hassle free, easy to apply, and travel-friendly. I picked up the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Mask recently while in Sephora hoping my skin will love it.

Beauty Discourse: Peeling Gels

I first heard about peeling gels from my Aunt (who is really into Korean beauty products & skincare) who recommended that I use a peeling gel to gently exfoliate my acne-prone skin. They're very different from traditional exfoliators that we have here in the States. Luckily, I happened to already have a generous sample of Naruko's tea tree peeling gel. I used that sample to the very last dollop, and I don't think I will ever go back to traditional exfoliators after using peeling gels.

Trend Discourse: Blanket Ponchos

I was a little surprised when I saw this trend popping up for Fall 2014 (but not as surprised as the revival of the Birkenstock). It's not a cape, but it's not entirely a poncho either. Instead, it's a hybrid between a poncho and a cape but it's more like a blanket like than anything. Burberry calls it a "blanket poncho" and that's definitely the most accurate description. Speaking of Burberry, there is no doubt in my mind that the designer house started the trend.

Beauty Discourse: The Benefits of Using Clay Masks

When I think of clay masks I can't help but also think of those spoofs on TV where a girl is doing a clay mask facial and in walks the person she is interested in only to see her face covered in a green paste. Clay masks have been around forever, and there are so many different ones to choose from. No matter which clay mask you have in your beauty drawer or you're thinking about trying one, read on for tips on how to use and incorporate a clay mask into your beauty ritual.

Spend or Scrimp - Makeup Bags

The Look for Less - Celine Angular Boots

Image Sources: Celine & Zara

Seen on the feet of Kendall Jenner while trekking all over Manhattan for NYFW this fall, these Celine Angular Boots will set you back a pretty penny. Not all of us have such a big chunk of change to spare for some new (gorgeous) boots for fall! Fear not however, you can get the same look for less Thanks to Zara (or Zeline as called by some Fashion journalists that admire how Zara can create runway looks at high affordable prices). The boots that essentially look the same as Celine's, will only cost you $120 and is available through Zara here. To put the cherry on top, these boots come in a size 5 - very rare for Zara, but that of course means I'm getting these boots for myself as well!

Product Review: Laneige BB Cushion in Light

BB cushions are all the rage right now in Korea and have been for the past year. Since carrying BB cream in its traditional tube can be a hassle, the BB cushion compact is essentially BB cream in a travel friendly package. BB Cushions were created so that women can easily touch up their makeup on the go as well as reapply sunscreen throughout the day. The trend hasn't quite migrated over yet to the States from Korea, so for now there are very few options freely available here. Luckily, since Target has started carrying the Laneige line, I decided to try out the Laneige BB Cushion for myself!

Dark Moody Nail Polish Colors for Fall

Wearing Devil's Advocate by Essie

It's finally starting to cool down here in NYC which is a big relief given that we were suffering through 90 degree weather two weeks ago. While obviously cooler fall weather means dressing accordingly, I also tend to switch my polish colors from lighter colors to darker more vamp like shades (think dark burgundys, purples, dark greens, and greys) for the fall. Trend Discourse: Retro Sporty Sneakers

It started with Isabel Marant's wedge sneakers, and now the sneaker trend has moved on towards true sporty comfort sneakers. It used to be a faux-pas to wear sporty sneakers with any outfit but a gym outfit, but I'm actually happy to see that such a comfortable shoe is on trend right now! Especially considering all the walking I do in NYC. So, let's give our poor feet a break from stilettos and sky-high platforms. I for one, am going to embrace this comfy trend!

How I Deal with Acne - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion & La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

Throughout high school and even college, I had clear skin that rarely ever broke out. If I did have a breakout it wasn't more than two at a time and several months in between. I considered myself extremely lucky. Unfortunately, my luck ran out a couple years ago when I started to suffer from adult acne - and it was the nasty cystic type that left horrible acne scars afterwards to boot. I was miserable and it brought down my self-esteem a lot. I never considered my skin to be acne prone, but in the last few years, I definitely have acne-prone skin. Fortunately right now due to two products I've been using, I feel like I finally have a handle on my skin. If you too suffer from acne, click through the jump to read about the two skin-saviors that are keeping my acne at bay!

Fall Wardrobe Wishlist

It's finally September which means Fall is right around the corner! The pieces above are just some of the items in my wardrobe that I'm looking forward to wearing, but unfortunately for NYC, the weather doesn't actually start cooling down until mid to late September (we're currently experiencing 90 degree weather here this week which is unbelievable). Trend Discourse: The Dressy Skort

Image: TopShop Lemon Print Skort

Happy September!! Without revealing my age, I remember when skorts were first fashionable when I was in middle school. It almost feels like a fashion deja-vu, except this time the skort has definitely had a chic makeover. Although the dressy skort has been on trend now for at least a year since Zara came out with the origami skort, I've been seeing other stylish skorts from brands other than Zara. I love the new skort, and it's much more comfortable than a skirt. As the weather turns colder, I can still see the dressy skort being worn with tights, booties, and a wool jacket.

I ❤ NY: Jeff Koons Exhibit at the Whitney Museum

Even if you don't know who Jeff Koons is, you probably have seen his work! He's most famous for the shiny metallic balloon dog statutes, one of which, has sold for a record-breaking $58 million dollars. The exhibit, Jeff Koons: A Retrospective, is the artist's first New York retrospective and the largest exhibit devoted to one artist the Whitney Museum has ever featured. His work is funky, fun, whimsical, and quite suggestive at times (I could not post photos of all of his work that was featured since it was very explicit!). I took a lot of photos to share with you all, click through to see them!
