Beauty Discourse: Double Cleansing

Some women can't wait to get into PJs after a long day, but I will fully admit that I look forward more to taking off my makeup. I am slightly OCD when it comes to making sure all trace of makeup is gone because number one - I have white pillow cases, and number two - I have sensitive acne prone skin. My process of taking off makeup/cleansing always has at least two steps (sometimes three steps depending on what my skin condition is at that moment) but "double cleansing" in order to ensure complete makeup removal is not something I invented. I'm not certain of the origins of double cleansing, but some sources say it was first practiced by the Japanese.

Product Review: Nature Republic the First Number One Essence

I wrote about the benefits of using fermented essences and I had mentioned in the post that I recently bought The Fist Number One Essence from Nature Republic. First made famous by SKII, products that contain ingredients derived from the fermentation process are supposed to make your skin more radiant, glowing, brighter, and smoother in appearance. So did the essence live up to its claim? Click through the jump to read my review!

UPDATE: Nature Republic has released a new reformulated version of this essence which I wrote about here!

Home Discourse: My Favorite Items from Ikea

I have a love/hate (but mostly love) relationship with Ikea. On the one hand, it's just so cheap and easy to buy Ikea furniture, but on the other hand you know it's probably not going to last more than 2 years because it's just glorified particle board. Still, there are some great items at Ikea that I think can blend equally well into a newly furnished home, or in a mature well-lived in home. It's especially a pleasant surprise when I see photos of spaces where Ikea pieces are mixed in so well with higher end pieces (check out my Pinterest to see some examples!). For that reason, no matter what my budget or how lived in my home will be, I will see myself as always keeping Ikea as an option for home decor. Curious to see my favorite Ikea pieces? I ❤ NY: My Favorite Korean Pork Belly Joint - Tong Sam Gyup Goo Ee

I was hesitant to post about this place, because it's one of my hidden jewel eateries in New York. I absolutely love Tong. I love this place so much I dream about eating it almost every week and have to consciously tell myself that I can't have it that often since it's not the healthiest thing you can eat. However, I want the owner of Tong to get good business and stay in business because then I can forever eat there! So you're probably wondering what this establishment offers in terms of grub. Well it's very easy because they only specialize in one thing - Korean pork belly; otherwise known as glorified bacon slabs. Click through the jump to see my review & why you should definitely eat here!

Beauty Discourse: Skincare with Bacteria Derived from Fermentation

I first heard about skincare products incorporating beneficial bacteria derived from yeast during the fermentation process when SKII first came out with their Facial Treatment Essence many years ago. Recently in the past 2-3 years, there have been new fermented essences on the market that are based off of SKII's famous Facial Treatment Essence, and at affordable prices! To see these great options and the benefits of incorporating fermented essences into your skincare, click through the jump!

Home Discourse: Gorgeous Rugs for Under $300

One thing that definitely gave me sticker shock when furnishing my apartment was the price of rugs. Rugs can be crazy expensive, and I just felt like even if I had the money in my budget to buy a more expensive rug, I can't possibly spend that much on a rug. However, a rug is an important decor item to any space because it takes up a big amount of visual real estate in a room. For that reason, if you're shopping for a rug, you want it to really complement the space and pull a room together. It was hard to find rugs that I liked for under $300 (especially for larger sizes like 8 x 10) but it is possible to find a gorgeous rug at your price point if you know what you're looking for!

The Fort Greene Flea Market in Brooklyn re-opened for spring on April 5th and I had been itching to visit the flea market ever since coming back to New York. Fortunately, it was a gorgeous day on opening day so my boyfriend, our friends, and I trekked down to Brooklyn to check out the flea market. Product Review: Paula's Choice 2% BHA Exfoliating Gel

I've read so many posts and articles about how salicylic acid is supposed to be an amazing chemical that unclogs your pores and prevents breakouts. I have tried so many products (high end and low end) where the main ingredient was salicylic acid only to be severely disappointed in its ineffectiveness on helping my skin issues. It was frustrating because salicylic acid products are so easy to purchase since they are so abundant, but none of the products worked for me. Everything changed for me when Paula's Choice entered the picture.

Shopping On Etsy for Home Decor Items

Milo Baughman Style gold coffee table base
photo from Luxe Artifacts on Etsy

For those of you who like vintage or unique home decor items, Etsy has a goldmine of items at amazing prices. I have found items I've seen being sold at flash sale sites (I'm looking at you One King's Lane!) for a fraction of the price on Etsy. The huge drawback however is that there are so many different things on Etsy that it can be hard and overwhelming to try to find what you're looking for. Click through if you're interested in finding a few treasures on Etsy and want help knowing where to start!
