Link Love: DIY Marbling, Home Decor Inographics, & Westminster

1. NOVELTY: Sometimes I feel like New York is like Disney World in the sense that you'll never know all of its secrets, quirks, and eccentricities. I definitely did not know most of the things on this list of Things You Probably Don't Know about New York!

2. DIY: A DIY marbling for grown ups! Marble your stationary, envelopes, and letters using (you would never guess) shaving cream!

3. HOME: It's the mothership of infographics for home design! This really is the only list you would need if you are decorating and renovating your home!

4. BEAUTY: Although I'm super loyal to the YSL Creme de Blush, swatches of these NARS dual intensity blushes are seriously making me consider introducing another blush into my makeup cabinet!

5. FASHION: Despite the single digit and sometimes below zero artic weather we're having here in NYC, fashion week lives on. Check out Style.com for up to date information and pictures of the 2015 fall ready to wear collections.

6. ANIMALS: This past week was the Westminster Dog Show! Although I couldn't make it this year, I've definitely already made it a goal to attend next year's show. Check out the official website for videos, pictures, and who won best in show!

Latest Lemmings - Monograms

Either you love stamping your initials on your personal items, or you don't. If you do like monogramming items like I do, then you probably get excited when you are shopping and you see the option box "monogramming available." Additionally, I have a rather unique name so I never find my name on those key chains or cups that you often find in souvenir shops. Click through the jump to see items (not monogrammed towels) that have monogramming available!

One Year Lookback

My wish tied to the wishing rock in Korea. (full post here)

A Glossy Discourse turned one year old yesterday! When I started this blog, the goal was for this place to be a space where I could escape, a place where I could challenge myself creatively, and share posts that are attainable, relatable, and realistic when looking at an average girl's everyday budget. It's definitely hard to come up with good content, and I think that I can definitely still work on creating better content. Hopefully I'll be able to challenge myself even more in the next coming year! There are some personal goals of mine that I would like to see achieved within A Glossy Discourse. Until then, this post is dedicated as a lookback on some of the highlights of A Glossy Discourse's first year on the web! Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you'll stick with me as I grow!

Beauty Discourse: Manicure Necessities

Making your manicure last is always the goal no matter what kind of manicure you have. I remember a time in college when my manicure barely lasted two days before chipping and peeling off. Now with the right tools, I can make a non-gel polish manicure last upwards of five days without chipping, and up to seven days before it starts to look unkempt.

Product Review: Mamonde Rose Body Butter

I love anything rose scented, especially when it's a body cream. The brand Mamonde (pronounced Ma-mon-day) has a whole range of rose scented products, but the rose body butter particularly caught my eye. The body butter claims to be deeply moisturizing, firming, and smoothing. I've heard good things about the entire Mamonde rose line, and in retrospect I actually regret not purchasing more products from the rose line while I was in Korea!

Beauty Discourse: Dealing With Oily Hair

Throughout my whole life I've had fine nonvoluminous hair that is prone to being oily. I've heard time and time again that I should try washing my hair every other day rather than everyday, but my hair is so prone to getting oily that I have to wash it every 24 hours or else it gets a little gross looking. Lately I've made it a personal goal of mine to explore hair products that would curb my scalp's oil production while also adding much needed volume to my hair.

I ❤ NY: 5 Things I Love About New York

Flowers on the High Line

It's the dead of winter in one of the coldest months here in New York City, and I'm very much looking forward to warmer weather in the spring. While going through my photos that I've taken in NYC when the weather was much more pleasant, I reminded myself that there are things about NYC that are great all year round. Subsequently, in an attempt to get me through winter, I thought I'd share five things that I love about New York.

Home Discourse: Headboard Inspirations

Image Sources top left to right: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4
I'm currently in the market for a headboard and I just can't decide what I want! Tufted, tall, nailhead, color, linen, square, curved - these are all possible headboard options. I'm leaning towards nailhead embellished headboards, but I think the tufted headboards are very classic as well. Click through the jump to see some photos of some bedrooms I'm admiring while also shopping for my own headboard!

Four Pieces to Invest in for Any Wardrobe

Quality over quantity - I'm definitely a believer of this statement when it comes to clothing and accessories. Of course, when it comes to investing in expensive pieces, I always go for the classic and timeless because let's be truthful here, most of us even if we work, cannot afford to spend a huge chunk of our paychecks on fleeting trends. However, I totally think that carefully saving up for that one investment piece that'll go with anything and everything is worthwhile (I just recently invested in a purse! Post here) . Check out four wardrobe pieces that I think have a home for any wardrobe and three options that hit the mark.

Product Review: Holika Holika Jewel-Light Eyeliner in Pink Topaz

One of the few makeup items I bought in Korea was the Holika Holika Jewel Eyeliner pencil in pink topaz. I was attracted to these pencils because one of the makeup trends in Korea is to line the bottom of your eye (not your waterline) with a pink or champagne glittery shade. It's similar to how here in the West we add a bit of a highlight shade to our inner eyelids, except in Korea they extend this shade to about halfway on the lower lid. Swatches and reviews after the jump.

The Splurge - My Petite Fendi 2Jours in Brick

I've been planning to buy a luxury handbag for some time now, and the Fendi petite 2Jours was on my radar ever since I saw the bag on the arm of one of the many fashionable New York girls on the street some time ago. I'm also a sucker for anything monogrammable! I rarely ever splurge on an item as expensive as this, but I had recently reached a milestone in my life (academically, personally, and professionally) so I wanted to mark the occasion. Continue reading to take a look at the new (accessory) love in my life!
