Home Discourse: Nate Berkus's Spring 2015 Collection Faves

I look forward to what Nate Berkus comes out with every season and his collection for spring 2015 is amazing! I absolutely love geometric and faceted shapes as home decor, and it seems that the spring 2015 collection is all about facets, angles, and geometric shapes. Plus, his collections always have gold accessories no matter what, so it also pleases the gold fanatic in me as well. And since the items always range from $10-$100 but look more expensive than they are, they're totally worth the purchase in my opinion.

I ❤ NY: Sleep No More

If you're a fan of Gossip Girl, you'll probably remember an episode entitled "The Big Sleep No More" in Season 5, Episode 7 where the characters went to a "show" wearing Venetian masks. However, this show was extremely unorthodox because one - everyone in the audience wore masks, two - you weren't allowed to talk (although of course the cast broke this rule), and three - you were allowed to walk around the set as the play progresses. This show was called "Sleep No More" and I've always wanted to go to the show, although at the time I was living in California! Finally this past weekend, I made a reservation at the McKittrick Hotel, where Sleep No More unfolds.

Product Review: Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream in N21

For the past 2 weeks my skin has been breaking out. I blame it on the ever changing weather here in NYC (one day it's 50 degrees, the next day it's snowing 3-5 inches!). To minimize and prevent more breakouts, I decided to try a BB cream since it provides foundation coverage with skincare benefits. The Signature Real Complete BB Cream from Missha claims to even treat blemishes which is exactly the type of BB cream I was searching for, but did it live up to its claims?

VBA Award - The Versatile Blogger Award

I was nominated by Stella from Pastel Boulevard for the Versatile Blogger Award! First off, a big thank you to Stella for the nomination! The VBA award is given by bloggers to other fellow bloggers. Factors for the nominator to consider are, "...the quality of the writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page. Or, of course, the quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them." These are all factors I strive towards for A Glossy Discourse, so I'm flattered to be nominated for the award!

Home Discourse: Curio Boxes

Do you have a thing for displaying quirky objects and or beautiful accessories? If you said yes, then you might already own a curio box in your house. But just in case you don't, curio boxes is short for a "curiosity box" where traditionally collectibles and objects are displayed in an all glass box. Presently, the trend right now is to use a curio box for terrariums, to store jewelry, agate stones and crystals, or even accessories like sunglasses. I've even seen these boxes being used as display pieces in stores such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Club Monaco.

Sunnies for Spring

Illesteva Leonard Matte Black Sunglasses

Just like the sun, my sunglasses have been in hibernation during the winter. I haven't had a chance to wear them at all since the sun isn't really shining during winter mornings, and has pretty much set by the time I commute back home - so sad. However, now that daylight savings has already passed, I can definitely count on sunnier days, even on the commute to work! Click through the jump for some sunnies I'm eyeing in anticipation for sunnier spring days.

I ❤ NY: Blue Ribbon Sushi

If you've been a reader for a while, it'll come to no surprise to you that this is another sushi post. I'm a self-professed sushi addict, and I'm on a mission to try all the worthwhile sushi establishments in NYC. Blue Ribbon has been on my list for quite some time now, and since I was in the area already, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to check it off my list.

Currently Craving: Blushing Nudes

After one last terrible snowstorm, it seems that winter is finally coming to an end here in NYC. Slowly the weather is getting warmer to a somewhat bearable degree, and the sun is peeking out! I'm definitely looking forward to spring, and having a more colorful wardrobe to go with it. I'm really currently loving nudes, blushes, and light salmon peaches shades whether it be clothing, accessories, or makeup. I think it's a refreshing color and a welcomed change from the gloomy winter we just had.

I ❤ NY: Nail Art at Akiko Hair & Nail Salon

My girlfriend and I had a girly day out in the city this past weekend, and we went to get our nails done! After searching online for nail art salons, I happened upon Akiko Hair & Nail and out of all the nail art salons. We both decided that this was the place we were going to go to because the prices seemed reasonable, but the work product was amazing. It turned out to be exactly that, and we're already planning the designs for our next visit!

Product Review: IOPE Bio Essence

If you don't have some sort of essence in your beauty routine already, I highly recommend that you incorporate one asap! I've already reviewed and wrote about essences on the blog before, and it's been a life-changer for my skin. I've always wanted to try IOPE's essence because it was all the rave for the first year when it came out. It took so long to review because I still had a significant amount of Nature Republic's essence left and didn't want to start a new essence until I finished that up. Finally however, here is the review!

Trend Discourse: Eyes & Evil Eyes

Although the evil eye trend has been around for a while now, I've been noticing a new "eye" trend on clothing and accessories. The new eyes are playful, flirty, and sometimes cartoon-like. It's a fun trend, and it looks like the objects have a mischievous personality when they have these eyes. I personally really like this trend because it's fun but different at the same time. It also brings an unexpected element to your outfit!
