My Current Skincare Routine - Spring 2015

I've realized that I've never done a current skincare post on the blog despite posting about my current favorite everyday makeup products twice (here and here). The types of products that I use everyday for my skincare don't change - I always use a toner, an essence, a serum, La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo, a moisturizer, and an eye cream. Sometimes I change up the essence, the moisturizer, and the serum, but I've been loyal to my toner and Effaclar Duo! Click through to see what I'm currently using.

Product Review: Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Essence

I love beauty products with spring thermal water in it. I know that my skin absolutely loves thermal water. When Innisfree came out with their new Jeju sparkling mineral essence line, I knew I had to get my hands on one of the products in order to try it out. The entire line consists of a lotion, toner, essence, cream, skin essential, sparkling mineral powder, and a mineral facial mist. I decided on purchasing what I thought was the most unique product out of the entire line, which is the sparkling mineral essence. Why is it unique? Because it literally foams when you dispense it!

I ❤ NY: China - Through the Looking Glass Exhibit at the Met

Happy Memorial Day! Today I want to share something I did over Memorial Day weekend. I look forward to the Costume Institution's new exhibit every season, and this year I was particularly excited because the theme was China: Through the Looking Glass since I am Chinese. I have to say that this was the best exhibit I've been to thus far. The exhibit was really breathtaking, and I think it was undoubtedly one of the largest exhibits the Costume Institution has featured. The exhibit spans 3 floors. Moreover, it is incorporated into the already existing and permanent Chinese art wings which was amazing because you are able to compare the modern interpretation from traditional art pieces.

Currently Craving: Slouchy Ripped Boyfriend Jeans

Sometimes it's tiring wearing skinny jeans - they're tight and they are (usually) too long for your legs! I've been really into boyfriend fit jeans lately. I'm absolutely loving my new jeans from Zara - they're perfect for my petite frame. I chose a cut that was slightly slouchy, but not too baggy so that it wouldn't overwhelm me. To go with the relaxed vibe of the looser fit, I'm going to pair more "menswear" inspired pieces such as collared oxford shirts, leather jackets, and definitely a blazer! Click through to see some street style inspiration photos for boyfriend jeans.

Product Review: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

I don't really like setting powders even though I have oily skin. I find that after a couple hours, the oils in my skin coupled with the foundation and setting powder created some sort of weird blotchy pattern on my face. It's not very pretty. I swore off setting powders until I was convinced by one of my long-time friends (who is also very pick about her beauty products) to try the NARS setting powder. She raved about it, and so I thought this probably is a really good product if she swears by it.

Beauty Discourse: Products With Thermal Spring Water

Image Source - left to right: La Roche Posay, Avene, Vichy

I've mentioned before that during my trip to Korea this past fall, I went to a hot spring resort that had thermal spring water running throughout the pipes of the resort. After bathing in the water for 10-15 minutes, I noticed how calm and smooth my skin was. It was unreal. I was breaking out during my trip as well, and my blemishes were significantly calmer and less red after only a 15 minute soak. It's no wonder that a lot of beauty companies bottle the wonders of thermal spring water.

The Splurge - Black Baies Diptyque Candle

After coming across countless Instagrams of Diptyque candles (snapped by the super fashionable crowd and more), I had to discover on my own the allure of Diptyque. Last month, I stepped into the Diptyque store in Columbus Circle, and I was entranced by the aroma of the store. It was like being in a perfumery, except there was a whole table of candles that could make your own home smell like the scents you were smelling at that exact moment! Being the deal-hunter I am, I refrained from purchasing then and there, but I did some scent research to determine which scents I loved. Thus, when SpaceNK was offering $20 off a $75 purchase or more, I definitely splurged!

ParcelPuppy - A Destination for Hard to Find Beauty Products & More

In this post, I've collaborated* with Rose Wang, cofounder of ParcelPuppy, which is a new site whose mission it is to provide beauty lovers around the world with products that are hard to purchase within their own country. I've written and reviewed a lot of Korean beauty products here on the blog, and sometimes that product is really difficult to purchase within the United States. Well finally, there is a site that can help you purchase those products, and ship it to your doorstep in as little as a week!

*Disclaimer: This post is sponsored in part by ParcelPuppy. I was given credit to use the site and purchase products off the site. However, my opinions and reviews are my own and are in no way dictated by the sponsor.

Product Review: Shiseido Ibuki Enriched Moisturizer & Softening Concentrate

I am reluctant to try new skincare products due to my acne prone skin. I tend to stay away from super heavy creams as my everyday moisturizer, but sometimes gel type moisturizers are not hydrating enough. Subsequently, there is a fine line between hydration and heaviness that I seek in a daily moisturizer. I was drawn to the Ibuki line by Shiseido because it's formulated to deliver hydration while building up the skin's resistance to UV rays and stress. The Ibuki cream also helps minimize the appearance of pores, breakouts, and acne scars. It was everything I wanted my skincare to address!

Beauty Discourse: My Updated Everyday Makeup

The last time I wrote a my everyday makeup post was back in August of last year, and since then the products that I use everyday have really changed! I've really discovered some new favorites just recently but they've already earned a spot in my everyday makeup routine! Although some all-time favorite products are still in my everyday makeup routine, most of the products have in fact changed!

I ❤ NY: 16 Course Omakase at Jewel Bako

My boyfriend surprised me last weekend by taking me to Jewel Bako for an amazing omakase meal in celebration of my birthday. Sushi is my absolute favorite type of food, and it's my mission to try every notable sushi establishment here in NYC. I had an amazing meal and more importantly I have another sushi restaurant to add to my list of top sushi establishments in NYC. We'll definitely be back for another round (or two, or three...) Click through for pictures of my entire omakase meal and more!

Link Love: Fonts to Use on Your Resume, Spinach Artichoke Pasta, & Tips for a Glamorous Vanity Area

1. NOVELTY: Resume writing often feels like pulling teeth. However, one of the best things I like about resume writing is choosing my font & getting creative with my resume layout. Check out this article about the best (and worst) fonts to use in a resume.

2. BEAUTY: Tom Ford can do no wrong. His cream & eyeshadow pairings for Summer 2015 are simply gorgeous alone and together. The Beauty Lookbook has swatched the entire collection.

3. HOME: I love looking at other women's vanities and how they decorate them. The Decorista has made a gorgeous post about how to put together a glamorous vanity area.

4. RECIPE: Although the post itself may be old, I just recently came across The Pioneer Woman Cooks, a food blog by Ree Drummond. If you love spinach artichoke dip, then definitely try this spinach artichoke pasta!

5. CELEBRITY: The second royal baby is here, and it's a girl!

6. NOVELTY: Love is all about the little things in life, and Korean artists Puuung captures the little moments in everyday life that seem trivial, but are really about love.

Home Discourse: Hair-Pin and Origami Legged Furniture

If you've been a reader for a while, this post should come to no surprise to you because I've said several times that I love geometric lines in home decor. One piece of furniture I'm positive that I'll have in my new apartment (my boyfriend and I have been on the hunt for a new place) is a hair-pin or origami legged coffee, side, or console table. I absolutely love the way these pieces look. Because you can see through the base of these pieces, you get a lofty and airy look in the space. Plus, if you have a gorgeous area rug, an origami base won't fight with the design of the rug.
