ParcelPuppy - A Destination for Hard to Find Beauty Products & More

In this post, I've collaborated* with Rose Wang, cofounder of ParcelPuppy, which is a new site whose mission it is to provide beauty lovers around the world with products that are hard to purchase within their own country. I've written and reviewed a lot of Korean beauty products here on the blog, and sometimes that product is really difficult to purchase within the United States. Well finally, there is a site that can help you purchase those products, and ship it to your doorstep in as little as a week!

How it Works

ParcelPuppy runs on a request based system. The requests are nonbinding, and you can make as many requests as you want without making a purchase. Once you make a request, a local shopper will be assigned to your request, and once they are assigned, you can directly message the shopper from the site. Being able to chat with the shopper assigned to your request is one of the best parts of the site in my opinion. The site is easy to navigate and user friendly. You receive an email confirmation from the site once you finish a request, and once a request has been fulfilled. Below are snapshots of the process, click to enlarge.

Shipping & Shopper Fees

ParcelPuppy charges a $10 commission fee per order when you purchase from the site. Given this, you have to calculate if the items you're purchasing are below MSRP in order to make your entire order worthwhile. For example, ParcelPuppy is selling the Hera UV Mist Cushion for $27. In Korea, the item is $43 which means you're saving $6 total ($43  - $27 = $16 - $10 shopper fee equals $6). There are a good number of items below MSRP on the site, so you can work around it to make the $10 a negligible fee.

Shipping depends on how heavy your items will be. The site states that for under 4.4lbs purchases, the shipping ranges from $5-$30. You are going to be paying a premium when it comes to shipping, but one thing is for sure, the shipping from ParcelPuppy is a lot faster than if you were to purchase from ebay or Amazon (which on average takes 3 weeks to get to you). I received my items in less than a week from when they were shipped out.  My package also came with a handwritten note from the shipper who fulfilled my order, as well as samples! In conclusion, if you purchase a handful of items from the site, it's worth the premium rather than purchasing from Amazon or Ebay and waiting a month or more for your items to come.

Timing and Request Fulfillment

The items I bought were all from Korea, so my requests were fulfilled at the same time. I'm pretty sure that if you have requested items that are from different countries, they probably won't be fulfilled at the same time. My requests were fulfilled in less than a week.

Products to Purchase

Below are some products that are hard to purchase in the US, but purchaseable from ParcelPuppy. As a general rule, I would also recommend doing research on the product you want to purchase first in order to get a sense of how much it is priced for in their native country.

  1. Banila Clean it Zero cleansing cream
  2. Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Essence (purchased through ParcelPuppy & review to come soon!)
  3. La Roche Posay Serozinc
  4. Hera CC Cream (full review here)
  5. Primera Watery Cream gel cream moisturizer
  6. Hera UV Mist Cushion (full review here)
  7. Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask (full review here)

Concluding Remarks

ParcelPuppy is a great site with a great idea. It's designed to be more personable than ebay or Amazon in that your requests are assigned by a local shopper who actually goes out and gets the item for you. Of course, while the site is geared primarily for beauty products, but that doesn't mean you can't request non-beauty items (Rose has actually stated that the site has fulfilled a request for a nonbeauty item such as a concrete block from Japan). For me personally, I have ParcelPuppy bookmarked so that I can use it to purchase items from brands such as Hera & Innisfree!
