Trend Discourse: Flatform Sandals

I've been seeing 90's inspired trends lately especially now that we're in the peak of summer. In the streets of New York in order make the heat bearable, I've been seeing a lot of girls pair high waisted shorts with shorter cropped tops. And for the shoes? Well it's flatform sandals of course. Remember these? Those famous platform sandals by Steve Madden were the original flatform sandal. The new flatform sandal seems to be a hybrid between the original Steve Madden sandals and Birkenstocks in that you have that same platform height, but with added straps. I would personally go for a flatform sandal that isn't too high and is minimalistic in terms of color and design.

Product Review: Tony Moly Banana Milk Hand Cream

How adorable is this banana hand cream from Tony Moly?! When I first saw it, I couldn't resist taking it home with me. To date, Tony Moly's famous fruit hand cream series includes peach, apple, tangerine, and now banana. I was already a fan of Tony Moly's peach hand cream (pictured above, but sadly it's all used up inside!), and their Banana Milk Hand cream is their newest product in their fruit hand cream series.

Home Discourse: Sputnik Chandeliers

In addition to admiring navy accent walls, I've also been drooling over sputnik chandeliers whether it's in the dining, living, or bedroom! It's an iconic decor piece for any person who loves midcentury design. With the name clearly referring to the Sputnik satellite that launched into space in 1957, it clearly resembles something space-age-esque. Although the chandelier has been around since the 1960's, it still looks amazing in modern spaces.

1. FOOD: Tyler Florence shows you how to butcher a chicken in seconds!

2. VIDEO: Absolutely gorgeous, witness the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef from the vantage point of a sea turtle's back.

4. DIY: Have a vase that you think would look amazing as a lamp base? Look no further, Apartment Therapy shows you step by step how to transform vases, into full functioning table lamps.

5. HOME: I'm obsessed with the kitchen in this home, but the entire home is a contemporary beauty.

6. MUSIC: Kpop girl band queens Girls Generation recently released their first single from their new summer album! It's the perfect summer anthem, and reminds me of Katy Perry's California Girls, Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen's Good Time,

Home Discourse: Admiring Navy Accent Walls

Apartment shopping in the five boroughs of New York is very stressful and volatile. So I have been trying to direct all my anger into pinning home decor photos that I love so that when I finally come across "the one" (apartment wise), I'll have a good database of decor photos that I can reference from. One of the most major design elements I've been inspired by is a navy accent wall. Since I'm going to be living in the new apartment with my boyfriend, I think it's the perfect masculine touch to a space to contrast with some of the more feminine design elements and accessories that I gravitate towards.

Currently Loving & Other Stories' Bath & Body Collection

I'm back from  my 2 week hiatus with a recent beauty obsession of mine! & Other Stories is fairly new to New Yorkers with the opening of their flagship store in Soho. When I first visited the store, I was entranced by the vast range of bath and beauty products that they had. I had such a fun time smelling all the scents, and they were all so lovely so I had a hard time choosing just one scent take home with me first. I really like the two products that I've purchased, so read more about it after the jump!

Happy Independence Day Weekend & a Short Post Hiatus

Image Source: Paris in Four Months

Let's break out the sunscreen, head to the beach, and light some sparklers! It's true what they say in movies and tv shows, New York City definitely does its annual disappearing act come every 4th of July. The city is insanely empty over the holiday while residents go back home or flock to the beach to celebrate the long weekend. Myself personally, since I write my posts on the weekends, I'll be taking a 2-3 week hiatus from the blog to relax and enjoy the next few summer weekends. Until then, to all my American readers, Happy July 4th and enjoy the long weekend!

Home Discourse: Gallery Walls

Image Source: Rifle Paper Company with Garance Dore; Photo #1 // Photo #2

I really love gallery walls in a space and I enjoy looking at the individual pieces of art that the curator has put together. Someday I hope to have a gallery wall either in the living room as a statement wall or in my office/den. I often see two types of gallery walls in photographs, and those are either the eclectic walls that have no theme or uniformity, or gallery walls that have a clear theme going on. Although I'm not sure what kind of gallery wall I'll eventually have, I can say that I have book marked a couple prints here and there (most recently the prints from Rifle Paper Company have really caught my attention) that I like and would possibly hang on my wall!
