Product Review: Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

Up for review today is the beautifully packaged Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder. If you don't know the brand, Tatcha creates products that are inspired by traditional Japanese skincare, specifically beauty rituals and customs that were used by the Geisha. With that in mind, the products promote skincare that results in natural, clear, and even skintone while looking healthy from the inside out. The rice enzyme powder is one of their flagship products and one of the more unique exfoliators currently available on the beauty market.

Review

First and foremost, I know that you shouldn't judge a product by its packaging, but the packaging is just so luxurious and thoughtful. At $65 per bottle, it is nice to see and feel that you're buying into a luxury high end product. The powder itself is housed in a heavy plastic bottle and I love that it's slightly transparent so you can see how much product you have left. There is a light rice fragrance to the product, similar to if you've ever smelled rice porridge before (rice grains that have been boiled in hot water until it turns into a thick porridge). It is actually quite a comforting scent for me! As for the powder itself, it is a very fine powder that looks like extremely fine white sand. At first I was hesitant to see that such a powder would turn into a creamy lather with just water, but it absolutely did. Although it is an exfoliator, it doesn't sting at all. It actually is one of the most gentlest exfoliators I've ever tried. It may be too gentle to the point that you may have to use it 3-4 times a week to see results. I use it every other day while in the shower and I can say that my skin does feel smoother after use. As for brightening effects, I have yet to see that after using it for around 3 weeks. However, I really enjoy using this powder and incorporating it into my nightly skincare routine.

Concluding Remarks

If you're looking for a luxurious feeling high end but gentle exfoliator, look no further. I know that the price can be a little steep, but if you're not ready to invest in the full bottle, Sephora has an adorable mini travel version available for purchase here. The powder also comes in a variety of different formulations that are targeted towards skin type. It would be an amazing gift for anyone who is really into skincare!
