2016 New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year! It's that time of the year again! Yes, I'm going to go along with the band wagon and also put up some new year resolutions. All six of my resolutions are not beauty or fashion related, but I nevertheless think they will benefit both blog!

My 2016 New Year Resolutions

1. Better Photography: I am long overdue for a camera upgrade. Shamefully, I've been using a combination of my phone and my boyfriend's phone to take photographs for the blog. I've finally invested in a better camera, the Sony a6000, to specifically take better quality photographs for the blog. However, I'm going to make it a resolution to improve on my photography skills and make it a small sideline hobby!

2. Exploring Outside of NYC: My long term plan is to return to California eventually, but I don't want to return to the west coast with regret that I didn't explore outside of NYC. I've heard that upstate New York is gorgeous and has many scenic parks to explore and hike. I want to make an effort to explore outside the city and visit some of these parks such as this gorgeous waterfall gorge in Watkins Glen State Park. (photo credit: imgr)

3. Slowing Things Down: Living in NYC means you're always on the go and trying to catch the train, a show, a taxi, an appointment - everyone in the city is in a rush pretty much all the time, myself included. This year, I want to try to make an effort to slow it down especially on the weekends. This means perhaps investing time in the mornings to make a cup of coffee instead of plopping a k-cup in the Keurig, or designating a day that is just for relaxing and exploring the neighborhood. 4. Becoming a Property Owner: This is been pretty much a life time dream of mine. And although I don't want to jinx anything, I am hopeful that I will be able to check this dream, and resolution, off my list within the next year!

5. Learn How to Make Proper Sushi: I love sushi, it's really my favorite type of food and I never get tired of it! Since this is the case, I might as well learn how to make sushi myself right? I'm not talking about the occasional spicy tuna bowl that I sometimes make - I'm talking about cut maki rolls and nigiri. It's harder than it sounds! I think I will have to start with improving my sushi rice first! (photo credit: my instagram)

6. Visiting a City Outside of the United States: Last year in 2014 I visited South Korea with my mom, but with my new job I wasn't able to travel outside the United States for 2015. I'm confident that in 2016 I will have time to travel out of the country once again! Visiting both London and Paris in one trip has always been a goal of mine, but I am also eyeing Japan! We'll see what the new year brings! (photo credit: my pinterest)

And there you have it, my six (hopefully attainable) resolutions for the new year! What are your resolutions?
