Cold Weather Skincare Essentials

It was beyond cold this past weekend in NYC to the point where I rarely went out of my apartment despite having a long weekend. Looks were so deceiving from my apartment window since sun poured into my apartment, but I knew it was brutally cold outside. I had to bring out the most moisturizing heavy duty skincare that I had in order to battle the needle-prickling like winds.

I've only discovered and started using this cleanser recently (review here), but it's by far the most nonstripping cleanser that I've ever used. It is especially important not to use an oil stripping cleanser in the winter, and the Milky Jelly Cleanser is the best one I've discovered.

This is a longtime favorite of mine, and for good reason - it's super hydrating but soaks into the skin really fast. This is my ultimate hydrating moisturizer and it's so gentle even on flakey or blemished skin.

Like the Milky Jelly Cleanser, the Skin Recovery Cream by Avene is another recent discovery of mine. I use this as my daily moisturizer and it absorbs faster than Cicalfate since it's thinner in consistency. Just like all Avene products, it's super gentle but moisturizes so well!

At night I really pump up the moisture by using a facial oil. Since the weather has been so cold recently, I've went from using two to now four drips of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate to ensure my skin is protected.

Winter is also the season of papercuts - at least for me it is since no matter how much I moisturize my hands I always seem to be prone to papercuts during the winter. The Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve was in a men's skincare starter kit I got for my boyfriend, but I find myself using it and not him.

Let's also not forget about lips! No normal lip balm will do in the winter for my lips which get dry very easily. So I've been loving the Reve de Miel honey lip balm.
