Product Review: Son & Park Beauty Water

Sometimes you see a beauty product and you just think to yourself - "I gotta have it." That's kind of what happened with me and the Beauty Water from Son and Park. The packaging, the name, the description of the product, it all sounded wonderful to me. In short, Beauty Water is described as a toner with exfoliating, hydrating, and cleansing benefits. I was really curious to see whether it lived to up those claims, and without hesitation purchased Beauty Water from Soko Glam.

The New Generation of Facial Exfoliators

Back when I was in college, pretty much the only facial exfoliator/cleanser that was available (and that most college students could afford) was the St. Ives Apricot exfoliator/cleanser. I remember slathering that stuff over my face and thought "wow, it kind of hurts but it must be exfoliating my skin really well!" Embarrassingly, I'm glad I have since then long moved on from facial exfoliators that contain hard granules to facial exfoliators that use more gentle exfoliating ingredients derived from naturally occurring acids found in food. I've noticed that a lot of these more gentle exfoliators come from Asian beauty brands, and I promise you, once you try these facial exfoliators you'll never look back again!

Three of My Current Transitional Skincare Products From Winter to Spring

Luckily NYC had a very mild winter this year, but I hope that means hot sticky weather isn't around the corner either! For the most part I'm still using my winter moisturizer, but I've been transitioning to lighter moisturizers when the temperatures here hit the mid 60's. Since I have oily skin, I can't use any of my winter skincare items when the weather gets warmer and I actually change out every product from my winter skincare routine to my summer skincare regime. My favorite type of moisturizer to use in the spring and summer are gel moisturizers that are paired with a lightly hydrating serum and those are just the products that I'm featuring in today's post.

Product Review: Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Bubble Peeling Cleanser

Skincare items that bubble (in the very literal sense), have become quite the trend lately in Korean skincare products. In the Korean beauty show "Get it Beauty," it was even recommended that you place your entire face in a bowl of carbonated mineral water to increase blood circulation and slightly exfoliate your face. While it looked really interesting, I never really got around to dunking my face in a bowl of bubbly mineral water. Instead, I purchased the Yerba Mate Bubble Peeling cleanser by Goodal.

Three Things 3.18.2016

Happy Friday!! March has been the month of home improvement here in my apartment. With the Diptyque sample sale kicking off the start of the month (see my haul here!), I've never been happier with the way my apartment smells (an odd thing to say, but any other Diptyque fanatic will understand!). Along with my new Diptyque goodies, there are two more things that I've been enjoying lately.

I ❤ NY: Central Park

I decided to play tourist in NYC with my friends for a day this past Saturday since the weather was perfect, and it was a gloriously sunny day to practice my photography (which you may or may not know is a New Year's Resolution of mine). Central Park is huge, so I'll only be featuring shots from the famous Bethesda Terrace & Fountain, The Loeb Boathouse, & the Pond. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them that day!

Product Review: Sunday Riley Tidal Moisturizer

I've been dying to try any product from Sunday Riley since I only ever hear amazing things about the brand. The Luna Oil has been on my wishlist for forever, but I couldn't justify purchasing it when I have an almost full bottle of Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate to go through. But, when I saw that the brand was releasing their first facial moisturizer, I knew I could justify the purchase and incorporate it into my beauty routine - especially since the weather is getting warmer here in NYC and I will have to transition to less thicker moisturizers.

Home Discourse: Mirrored Subway Tiles

I've been really digging mirrored subway tiles lately in interiors. It's a nice way to add a little sparkle and flash to a space, and it can be seamlessly integrated into any home decor style - modern, traditional, eclectic, you name it. I'm particularly keen when I see it used on wet bars or bar areas, but I absolutely adore it when it's used in very simple and minimal spaces.

Trend Discourse: Backpack Purses

Backpack purses - I'm not talking about your high school Jansport ones, but chic backpacks made of leather and completely grown up enough so that you don't look like you've reverted back to your high school self. The trend is completely widespread, and there are now tons of backpack purses to choose from the uber pricey Fendi Monster backpack, to the faux leather packs that you can find on the high street.

Product Review: Cailyn O! Wow Foundation Brush

Once in a while you come across a beauty item that completely changes the beauty game for you, and then you sincerely and truly cannot live without it anymore. Well, that's what the Cailyn O! Wow Foundation Brush has done to me. I first became aware of this particular type of makeup brush after popping by Space NK and seeing the Artis Oval brushes. After getting some sticker shock on the prices, I decided to do some research on the product and saw that Kylie Jenner uses this type of brush to put on her moisturizer. I really didn't want to shell out the money for a brush, so imagine my excitement when I saw what looked like a dupe for the brushes right in the drugstore.

Worth It - Beauty & Makeup Products That Are Worth the Splurge

Happy Friday!! I frequently get sticker shock from some of the beauty or skincare products out there. It's a real gamble because you just never know whether the product is worth the luxurious price tag. As much research as you do before you invest in something (I'm totally guilty of reading up before I shell out!), you just hope that the product will work for you as well as it has for the author. I love reading other people's posts about what they absolutely love and would pay full price for, so hopefully this list will be helpful to you too!

A Fragrant Diptyque Haul

NYC can be a rough place to live sometimes, but then I remember that it's the city where there are sample sales every month and everything seems worth it once more. It just so happened that this month was the highly anticipated Diptyque Sample Sale. Yesterday was the first day of the sample sale, and I was able to get into the sale pretty early. The sale is considered one of the most notoriously crowded and popular sample sales, but I was able to grab a couple good candles and then some!
