My Go to Foundations

Before talking about today's post I wanted to make a short announcement that there will be no post this Friday as I'll be taking a short trip to upstate New York to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend! Back to today's post - I love trying out new foundations and putting them to the test because when I discover a foundation that I love, it's like discovering some long lost treasure. If you're a new reader, for reference I have oily acne prone skin but gets dehydrated easily if I don't moisturize properly. I like foundations that provide a natural finish that doesn't scream "I'm wearing makeup." I prefer a medium coverage foundation for everyday, but I don't mind a high coverage foundation for special occasions if the finish is natural looking. Continue reading for four foundations I reach to depending on the occasion.

A Revisit of IOPE's Bio Essence

I think out of all the beauty products I've written about here on the blog over the past two years, no one product has gotten more attention and posts than essences. And rightly so because essences are amazing and total game changers when it comes to skincare. Today I'll be doing a revisit on the IOPE Bio Essence* because it was one of the first essences I used and fell in love it (read my orignal review here). I would say that it still remains one of my top essences - click through the jump to see why.

Glossier's New Balm dot Com Flavors in Rose, Mint, & Cherry

It's a great time for lip balm lovers because Glossier just recently released three new flavors of their cult status Balm dot Com! Balm dot Com already comes in a coconut flavored version, but I had no idea that the brand was releasing an additional three flavors. Say hello to Mint, Cherry, and Rose Balm dot Coms! All three of these flavors just called to me (especially rose, cause you know how I love my rose products).

A Little Beauty Haul From Korea

Nope you didn't read that wrong, I do have a little haul from Korea after a friend recently came back and was kind enough to bring me back some goodies that I had been lusting after! After visiting Korea for the first time back in the fall of 2014, I've been just dying to go back to discover more Korean beauty products and innovations, as well as to again enjoy the city of Seoul and their amazing subway system (NYC's subway system doesn't even begin to compare to the efficiency and cleanliness of Seoul's subway system). Unfortunately this year I won't be going to Asia, but to somewhere else abroad in the fall (I'll be announcing where I'll be going when the date is closer!), but until then I'll thoroughly enjoy these products from Korea!

I ❤ NY: Manus × Machina at the Metropolitan Museum

Every year I look forward to the Costume Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum and this year was no exception. This season's theme is Manus x Machina - Fashion in an Age of Technology and I when it was first announced I was utterly excited because fashion and technology are some of my favorite things! To have them melded together in one exhibit - perfection. This year's sponsor was Apple, and you could really see the company's aesthetic influence over the layout and minimalistic feel of the exhibit this year. It is set in a clean white "cathedral" with cameras projecting magnified detailed pictures of the clothing and a soothing opera like soundtrack playing on loop in the background. This year's exhibit was smaller than last year's, but I loved the theme and the pieces on display. Click through to view a small sampling of the exhibit!

Three Things 5.13.2016

It's finally Friday! But it's also Friday the 13th! I'm not that superstitious, but oddly for some reason I still notice when a Friday does fall on the 13th of the month. Superstitions put aside, here are three things that I've been enjoying lately! I've realized that I tend to always put candles in this post category, but all of my friends know that I'm always burning and stocking candles throughout the year to make my apartment smell fresh. But lately I've been enjoying good mix of fashion, home decor, and beauty items.

Product Review: Club Clio Peripera Moist Ink in #2 The Cutest Pink

I'm really excited about today's post because it's about a product that I've been obsessed with lately! To give some context about why I'm so obsessed, I am really picky when it comes to lip tints and stains. Most of the ones that I've tried are too drying and immediately sink into the fine lines in my lips which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I was dreaming of a lip tint that was moisturizing and left my lips looking hydrated and healthy rather than looking like I had popsicle stained parched lips. And finally, yes, I found a lip tint that does and looks exactly like what I've always wanted a lip tint to be!

Beauty Discourse: High & Low Cleanser Combination

In an effort to consolidate and have less steps in my nightly cleansing routine, on the spur of the moment one night in the shower I combined my cleansing, exfoliating, and weekly Clarisonic cleanse into one step. I loved the way my skin felt and I couldn't believe I didn't think of it earlier to just combine it with my Clarisonic brush. It also just so coincidentally happened that a week later, Into the Gloss did a recent blog post about someone's personal high-low cleansing combination as well! I took it as a sign, and now I'm posting up my own high-low cleansing combination today on the blog.

Cushion Foundation Comparisons - Hera, Club Clio, & IOPE

It's finally Friday! And we're ending Cushion Week on the blog with a comparison of cushions from Club Clio, IOPE, and Hera. Hera was my first cushion and I fell more in love with it (after giving it a moderately good review) the more I used it. I'm currently on my third refill of the Hera cushion. Now I've acquired (and most likely will acquire more) additional cushion foundations since using Hera. With the cushion foundation trend remaining strong over the past 2-3 years, many brands have been coming out with different types of cushion foundations - long wearing, matte, moisturizing, ampoule, intense cover, etc. There are now so many different types of cushions available so it can be a daunting buying process. Hopefully this comparison post will help you narrow down which cushion is right for you!

Product Review: IOPE Air Cushion XP in N21

Next up for review for Cushion Week here on the blog is the IOPE XP Air Cushion.* The IOPE Air Cushion was the first cushion ever made and it is what started the whole cushion makeup trend. IOPE is a subsidiary of the Korean beauty and makeup conglomerate Amore Pacific. Just in case you didn't read my post about Amore Pacific's plan to expand their presence here in the US, IOPE and other brands from Amore Pacific (Mamonde, Laneige, Mamonde, Sulwhasoo, and Hanyul) will soon be more widely available via Aritaum stores, the brand's beauty and skincare store that will house the aforementioned brands. The IOPE Air Cushion is one of IOPE's best selling makeup items and I'm so excited that this product as well as many other makeup and skincare items from the brand will soon be popping up at Aritaum stores across the US!

Product Review: Club Clio Kill Cover Liquid Founwear Ampoule Cushion in Linen

Happy Monday! Today will be the start of Cushion Week here on the blog! All three posts this week will be about cushion foundations with two reviews of different cushions and one comparison post to be uploaded on Friday. Today's post will be about Club Clio's Kill Cover Ampoule cushion foundation. From various bloggers and beauty youtubers, I've read and heard good things about Club Clio's foundations in that they provide really good coverage. When I saw that the brand recently came out with an "ampoule" version (another word for a hydrating serum) of their cushion foundation, I purchased it because I was curious on what a cushion foundation made up with 52% serum felt like and how it wore on the skin.
