Beauty Discourse: High & Low Cleanser Combination

In an effort to consolidate and have less steps in my nightly cleansing routine, on the spur of the moment one night in the shower I combined my cleansing, exfoliating, and weekly Clarisonic cleanse into one step. I loved the way my skin felt and I couldn't believe I didn't think of it earlier to just combine it with my Clarisonic brush. It also just so coincidentally happened that a week later, Into the Gloss did a recent blog post about someone's personal high-low cleansing combination as well! I took it as a sign, and now I'm posting up my own high-low cleansing combination today on the blog.

My current favorite high-low cleansing combination is mixing a little bit of Tatcha's Polished Rice Enzyme Powder with the Honey and Oat cleanser by Michael Todd. An ideal cleanser for me to combine Tatcha's rice powder was a cleanser that was thick in texture, had some foaming properties, but was also not too stripping on the skin. The Honey and Oat cleanser fit that cleanser profile which is why I chose it over my other current cleansers. The Honey and Oat cleanser doesn't foam up too much but it does work up to a creamy lather. When used together, my skin feels squeaky clean, and noticeably smoother than if I were to use just a normal cleanser alone. It's definitely not something I wouldn't do more than twice a week in fear of over cleansing and exfoliating my face. I'm going to definitely try this with other cleansers in the future (as the Tatcha rice powder lasts absolutely forever!) and see how it fares with a true foaming cleanser. So far though, I'm hooked!
