My Go to Foundations

Before talking about today's post I wanted to make a short announcement that there will be no post this Friday as I'll be taking a short trip to upstate New York to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend! Back to today's post - I love trying out new foundations and putting them to the test because when I discover a foundation that I love, it's like discovering some long lost treasure. If you're a new reader, for reference I have oily acne prone skin but gets dehydrated easily if I don't moisturize properly. I like foundations that provide a natural finish that doesn't scream "I'm wearing makeup." I prefer a medium coverage foundation for everyday, but I don't mind a high coverage foundation for special occasions if the finish is natural looking. Continue reading for four foundations I reach to depending on the occasion.

For a Super Natural No Makeup Makeup Look
MAC Face and Body

I haven't worn MAC's Face and Body Foundation in a while not because I don't love it, but because it requires that you have almost flawless breakout free skin which unfortunately, I have not had lately. This foundation gives you the most natural looking skin like finish. It just events out any redness and it "sets" on your skin after a while which makes it long lasting. Application wise there is a learning curve because the texture is a bit weird - watery out of the bottle but it gets thicker as you massage it into your face. But after the first layer, you can sort of build up the coverage by patting more into your skin and again letting it set.

For an Everyday Long Lasting Powerhouse
Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder Full Coverage Foundation

This is my everyday foundation and the one I reach for the most. It lasts until the minute I apply it and doesn't look too shabby when I remove it almost 12 hours later. Application is fast and really easy with the Airbuki brush, and I love the natural but flawless finish it gives. Although it has "full coverage" in the title, I don't really think it is. I still need to use a concealer to cover up any imperfections, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. Given how often I use this foundation I'm surprised it isn't empty, but you can bet when I run out I'm running straight to Sephora to get more!

For Special Events
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk

This shouldn't really be a surprise since I can't be the only one out there that uses Luminous Silk for special occasions. There is a reason why this foundation is so universally loved. The fact that it is SPF free means that it's photo friendly, but I think the real reason why it's a commonly used foundation for special occasions is the finish this foundation gives. It's buildable to full coverage, but it does an incredible job of evening out your skintone and canceling out your redness without that cakey heavy makeup look. It just looks like your skin is naturally that flawless! Plus, it lasts a pretty long time if you set it with powder.

For a Fast and Easy No Fuss Application
Hera UV Mist Cushion

I especially wear this foundation on the weekends when I'm just going out with my girlfriends or grabbing a quick meal around the neighborhood. It's an easy no fuss under three minute application for me. It also lasts for quite a while on me if I set it with a setting powder. The great thing about this foundation is also that it contains a high SPF so it gives me some extra protection on top of the separate SPF I already apply.
