Product Review: IOPE Air Cushion XP in N21

Next up for review for Cushion Week here on the blog is the IOPE XP Air Cushion.* The IOPE Air Cushion was the first cushion ever made and it is what started the whole cushion makeup trend. IOPE is a subsidiary of the Korean beauty and makeup conglomerate Amore Pacific. Just in case you didn't read my post about Amore Pacific's plan to expand their presence here in the US, IOPE and other brands from Amore Pacific (Mamonde, Laneige, Mamonde, Sulwhasoo, and Hanyul) will soon be more widely available via Aritaum stores, the brand's beauty and skincare store that will house the aforementioned brands. The IOPE Air Cushion is one of IOPE's best selling makeup items and I'm so excited that this product as well as many other makeup and skincare items from the brand will soon be popping up at Aritaum stores across the US!

*This product was provided to me care of Amore Pacific, but all opinions are my own.

I have the cushion in the shade N21. The shade N21 provides a more natural finish, but if you want more coverage you can purchase the cover version with starts with "C" before the shade number. As you can see from above, the coverage is very natural and it really does look like a second skin - it doesn't look like I have any foundation on at all which is the kind of finish I look for in foundations. I would say that the IOPE cushion is probably the closest/best shade match for me I've come across from a cushion. The finish is satin like - not too shiny and not too matte. Since the cushion is not supposed to be full coverage, I did have to build up two or three layers in order to even get the medium coverage that I desired. If you're seeking to cover up any acne or hyperpigmentation, this may not be the cushion for you, I would suggest opting for the cover version of the foundation. If you have clear skin, this foundation is perfect for evening out your skin tone. It's not too heavily scented but it does have a scent. It is less strongly scented than the Hera UV Mist Cushion. The first time I wore it, it stayed flawlessly intact going on the 5th hour before I took it off (I also used a setting powder). The description says that it lasts for over 12 hours, and I did put that to the test since my normal work day clocks in at just under 12 hours from the moment I wake up to to commute to work the minute I get home. It did stay primarily intact (albeit my face was starting to be really oily at the 11th hour), but I don't think I could have stretched it any longer than 12 hours .

Concluding Remarks

I highly recommend the IOPE Air Cushion XP. Not only is it one of the more widely available cushions here in the States, but I really do like the finish and the fact that it lives up to its claim that it is long wearing at 12 hours. It's no wonder that this cushion foundation launched and triggered the beginning of the enormous cushion foundation trend! The IOPE cushion is available online via Soko Glam, Peach and Lily, and Amazon.
