Product Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Serum Foundation

When I was in Paris last month one of the must have makeup items I knew I had to pick up was the Healthy Mix Gel Foundation by Bourjois. At one point years ago, Bourjois was sold in Sephora but then for some reason it wasn't, and of course I heard about how amazing this foundation was after it was already phased out of Sephora. Not only does Lisa Eldridge rave about it, but I've read countless other beauty blogs that say it's one of the best drugstore or "high street" foundations available. Spoiler alert - it is. I'm utterly obsessed with  it!

Review

I've been wearing this foundation nonstop since I used it for the first time my first week back from Paris. The finish of this foundation is semi-matte, pretty much skin like. I love the coverage of this foundation and how it applies. I actually apply it with an air-puff sponge that you get with cushion foundations and I pat it gently into my skin and finish off with blending the edges with a fluffy foundation brush. The finish is really natural and I've worn this foundation everyday to work but it also wears beautifully and photographs well with flash photography for more formal events since it doesn't have any SPF in it. It doesn't accentuate my dry patches (I've been using the vitamin A A313 cream which is making some of my skin peel) which is very much appreciated. The coverage of this foundation is pretty decent, I would say with one layer it's light but completely buildable to medium coverage. I need minimal concealer if I build up the coverage over the areas where I'm breaking out. In terms of how long it wears, it has great longevity. I doesn't get cakey or splotchy until maybe 9-10 plus hours in. In the winter, it will wear that long without powder, but I will probably need to powder this foundation in the summer. Overall, an incredible foundation for a great price!

Concluding Remarks

Obsessed. I would recommend this foundation to anyone who wants a budget friendly foundation that checks off all the qualities of a more higher end foundation. Unfortunately it's not easy to get in the US, but it is available on ASOS and Feel Unique (which offers free shipping over $15). Choosing your shade might not be convenient either, so I would recommend researching and looking at swatches to see what would be your best shade match.
