Product Review: Caudalie Detox Night Facial Oil

I got this oil for an incredible price in Paris. It was recommended to me by the pharmacist there after she asked a few precursory questions about my skin condition and looking at my skin in the store. She was so observant and even asked some pointed questions that were true about my skin even though I didn't say anything other than I was acne prone. I'm usually very skeptical of sales associates, but I was impressed in that she was able to pinpoint some of my skin issues without me actually telling her about them.  Due to my oily acne prone skin, she stated that it was imperative for me to detoxify my skin at night to prevent more breakouts. Suffice to say, I totally went ahead and purchased a bottle.

Caudalie Overnight Detox Oil, 1oz
Price: $52

This lightweight, dry oil is a 100 percent plant-based formula that helps support natural cell renewal and toxin elimination. Free-radicals and dead cells are eliminated during the nighttime when cells are most efficient at healing. Skin is left smooth, hydrated, and youthful-looking.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil*, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Farnesol*. *Plant origin.

Like most face oils, it is heavily scented. This particular oil smells heavily of neroli so if you don't like the scent of neroli it might not be the oil for you. In terms of texture, it's super light and feels light on the skin. I use about 2-3 drops nightly every other night. It's not particularly hydrating though, but I wasn't expecting it to be it's not really meant to be. Think of this oil as a sort of vitamin for your skin in that it adds antioxidants into your skin. If you live in a metropolitan area with heavy pollution, this is the facial oil for you. Sometimes you can tell if a product is working for you, but it's super subtle. This is one of those products. You don't see a huge difference at first, but you eventually feel and see it over time. I saw my skin become slightly more lively, bright, and less sullen when I incorporated this into my night time routine. But as I said before, I think of it as a vitamin shot for m skin after my skin is exposed to the NYC and underground subway air.

Concluding Remarks

A really nice and light oil for those of you have oil skin or are looking for a light facial oil to add to your facial regime. It's unfortunately not going to be the most hydrating oil out there, but it's not advertised to be one. I would go for a hyaluronic acid serum if you're looking to boost hydration levels in your skin. If you live in a metropolitan area with lots of air pollution, I would give this facial oil a try.
