Product Review: Soap & Glory The Ultimelt Hot Cloth Cleanser

I bought this cleanser on a whim when stopping into a Duane Reade to get cotton pads. I've always wanted to try a hot cloth cleanser and the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser was at the top of my try list for hot cloth cleansers (but it's become rather hard to purchase online). So when I saw Soap and Glory's The Ultimelt, I said to myself "sure why not" (it even was on sale from $14 to $10 so I considered it my lucky day). This was my first skincare item that I purchased from Soap & Glory so I had no expectations and nothing to compare it to, but I was hopeful that it would be good given that I've heard good things about hot cloth cleansers in general. So I went home and used it for the first time that night.

Soap & Glory The Ultimelt, 3.3oz
Price: $14

Who needs a facial when you can stay at home and enjoy The Ultimelt™ from Soap & Glory™? It's super-concentrated, smoothing, revitalising, and deep cleansing – like a detox spa for your skin; super-concentrated cleansing, smoothing and revitalising, melts away make-up, rebalances and brightens, for all skin types (except those sensitive to essential oils)

Aqua (Water/Eau), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter Oils, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Esters, Sorbitan Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Synthetic Beeswax, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Panthenol, Disodium EDTA, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Linalool, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Pantolactone, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil

The product comes with a muslin cloth so everything you have everything you need to use the cleanser. If you hate scented products, you'll definitely want to stay away from the Ultimelt. Personally I don't mind it, but it it smells strongly of orange and lavender oil. It comes in this thick but easily squeezable tube. You need quite a generous amount in order to easily spread it across your face and ensure it keeps its slip while you massage it into your face - kind of a bummer as you're only given 3.3oz but it will go fast given you need a good amount. That being said, I didn't think I would love it as much as I do, but I really do enjoy this cleanser! It leaves my face feeling incredible - soft, smooth, and feeling super clean. I don't use this as my makeup remover, it won't do a good job of that and you'll be sorely disappointed if you use it for that purpose. However for a second cleanser (which is what I use it for) it's lovely and I really enjoy wiping the cleanser off with a cloth that's steamy and hot. I also feel like it preps my skin for my night time skincare routine as it's opened up my pores. Overall, I'm so glad I bought this!

Concluding Remarks

Those who hate fragrances will want to stay far away from this. For those who have acne prone skin like me, I've used this at least 5-6 times with no breakouts. However the disclaimer does say that this product may not be for those with highly sensitive skin due to the essential oils in the product. I personally love this stuff and I love how Soap & Glory is now widely available in the States at Duane Reade. Although I know I'll run out more quickly given that it's only 3.3oz, I'll probably repurchase it anyway since it's wallet friendly at $14.
